dahlia's empties #1!

hi lovelies,

I usually don't go through products really fast, unless it is something that I absolutely love or depending on what the product is, but over the past few months/weeks I have collected a bunch of empties. Some are good and I will be repurchasing, others I wish I had saved my money. Now, instead of boring you with a ridiculously long intro let's get right into business!

Boots Fragrance Free Cleansing Wipes

These are by far my favorite cleansing wipes. This is probably my fourth packet and I just love them. I love how they have no scent, color, or anything added to it. They are just plain cleansing wipes and they do their job just fine. It removes makeup perfectly, and I usually use them to take my makeup off before I wash my face with my cleanser. They do an ok job of taking mascara off but I use my Lancome eye makeup remover for that anyway. Boots also do a cucumber version of this but I prefer the fragrance free ones. Overall, I love these and you can't beat the price as it is Boots' own brand.

Repurchase? YES!
Recommend? Yes, for people who have sensitive skin and are looking for regular cleansing wipes.

No7 Extravagant Lashes Mascara

I don't know what to say about this mascara. I just don't like it. It has a horrible smell and clumps my lashes like crazy. When I buy a mascara, I usually go for separation of lashes and length but this does not do either of those. The wand is really big and hard to use. All in all a big no-no for me.

Repurchase? No
Recommend? No

Estee Lauder Sumptuous Mascara in Black

I got this mascara as a sample from the Estee Lauder counter when I bought a gift for my mother. I have used it up completely and bought the full size version as well. I really liked this mascara, it separated my lashes and didn't make them clump. It also had no fall down whatsoever which is a big plus living in a hot climate. It didn't have a strong smell and overall is a really good product, and worth if you got a little extra money to spend.

Repurchase? Maybe
Recommend? Yes if you want to spend that department store money

Maybelline The Falsies Mascara

After all the hype surrounding this mascara, I finally bought it. It has a curved wand which is supposed to help give some sort of effect to you lashes. At first, I had to get the hang of how to use it but once I found the right angle it worked out fine. It's not the best mascara but I don't regret buying it at all. Sometimes you have to take the risk of buying new things and since it is drugstore price it's not a big splurge. I enjoyed using it while it lasted but I found that after a while my lashes would clump and not be as separated.

Repurchase? Not at the moment
Recommend? Yes if you like funky wand shapes!

Lush R&B Hair Moisturizer

Okay, so I was at Lush one day buying the rehab shampoo when one of the shop assistants came up to me and persuaded me to buy a hair moisturizers because of course my hair needed it... I was a bit skeptical to buy it but she tried it on my hair and with my frizzy hair it looked awesome. So I went ahead and bought it. I enjoyed using it several times but there is one major, and I'm talking MAJOR put off to this product. The smell. It's just a terrible terrible smell. It smells so terrible that someone actually once told me that my hair smelled bad. Yeah... I also found that the product tends to go yucky a few weeks after its been opened, and my hair kind of became greasy when I used it, and I like clean, fresh hair. I think this will suit people who have more of an afro type hair than just regular wavy frizz.

Repurchase? No
Recommend? Only if you can stand the smell

Lush Veganese Hair Conditioner

Lush has some amazing products and some products that you regret spending your money on. I really liked this conditioner. It made my hair shiny (not in that greasy kind of way) just like it said it would and it made it really soft. It also has a delicious lemon smell which made my hair smell really fresh. I used this together with the Rehab shampoo and ended up with Minty Lemon smelling hair! mmm...

Repurchase? Yes - but not at the moment
Recommend? Yes - it is for ALL hair types!

J'adore by Dior Perfume and Body Milk

I love this. Of course it is a bit on the pricey side since it is Dior after all but it smells amazing. I will attempt to describe the scent as much as I possibly can, it smells like flowers but not too fresh and not too sweet. It is a very feminine smell and not overpowering. I really liked this perfume however I am still on the hunt for my 'signature scent' and I don't think it will be this one. It was nice having it around though and maybe I will buy it again sometime or as a gift.

review: Clinique Chubby Stick

Hey there beauties!

I am a little late to jump on the bandwagon of the Clinique Chubby Sticks but I finally decided to buy one partially for the product and partially because of the fun advertisements (kudos to Clinique for drawing me to their product with bright summer colors!). I wanted a nice bright shade that could be worn all year round and still look natural, so I opted for the color 04 Mega Melon, a beautiful peach summery shade.
I have a love hate relationship with this product. I love how it moisturizes and gives off a subtle color. The color can be added very light and 'clear' to the lips to give off just a slight color, or  you can add multiple layers and it becomes quite an intense, almost lipstick like color. It is very moisturizing but tends to sit in between the cracks of my dry lips, therefore in the winter time I will have to use some sort of extra lip balm. (I love regular lip balm and always carry it around). The color of this specific Chubby Stick is great for spring, summer, and autumn and gives off a natural finish. It adds a nice sheen of gloss but not too overpowering or sticky which is great because I absolutely hate sticky glosses or balms. The lasting power isn't that long, as it is a balm and tends to wear off quickly. I didn't find that my lips were that moisturized after the color was gone but while it was on my lips, it was moisturized.

Now, on to the things I don't personally like. First, the smell. To me, it smells like a crayon and I do not like the smell of crayons, let alone apply that smell to my lips. Its more strong when you smell it from the tube itself than once its on your lips, but its still there faintly. I am sure of it. :-P. Also, it is very hard to get a good precision with this product. It will easily go outside of your natural lip line because the stick is so big, so you will need to add the extra step of using a lip liner. Other than that, I think Clinique has come out with a great and fun product that is good for on the go, but I don't think I will repurchase or buy another color. There are so many more colored lip balms on the market to try!

Pros:
- Color payoff (buildable)
- Packaging
- moisturizing
- good for on the go

Cons:
- smell
- slightly expensive ($16)

Overall:  4/5

Dahlicious Recipes! - Homemade Banana Ice Cream

Hey there food addicts,

As spring/summer is coming up very soon (can you believe it is already March?!) I thought why not start TeamDahlia's blog with a fresh bite of ice cream. Oh no, don't grab that Ben&Jerry's, even though it tastes like heaven... We are taking on ice cream head first in the old fashioned way of cooking...homemade! It may not live up to the commercial standards BUT it is healthy, sugar free, and cheap. Who doesn't like to save an extra bit of money? Enough writing, let's get cooking! Or should I say freezing?

Ingredients:

2 bananas

Yes you read that right....we will only be needing ONE ingredient!

1. Start by picking the ripest bananas you have to get that Dahlicious sweet taste
2. Freeze the bananas overnight
3. Put the frozen bananas in the blender, any blender will do, and blend away until they have a creamy, ice cream consistency

There you go! Fresh, All-Natural, Homemade Banana ice cream!

Now, if banana only doesn't do it for you, you can add some other ingredients to spice things up:

- 2 tbsp peanut butter
or
- 1 table spoon honey and a pinch of cinnamon

the choices are endless really. You could even throw in some nuts or make it tropical by freezing some mango and adding it to the mix. You could also add a cup of frozen berries and some cream to get Banana and Strawberry Cream Ice Cream. This is the easiest way to make homemade ice cream that really is all-natural and healthy and it tastes good too, unless you don't like banana :-P.

I hope you try some and let me know in the comments how things turned out and any other variations that I could try!

Bon Appetit!
